In the early days of the project, I was asked to design an artificial being going by the name Morpheus, made of tiny metal spheres.
The task was also to find ways to generate interesting surface patterns, with the main issue being that spheres look the same from every angle.
To circumvent that, I thought that the tiny metal balls could cluster in different ways, a bit like molecules do, forming the micro structures that we would perceive from afar.
This approach gave me the possibility to explore many different kind of patterns for the character, which could have transitioned between them accordingly to his mood or as a response to the situation around him.
